U.S. Cosmetics Corporation, Dayville, CT has introduced a series of Lipoaminoacid (LP)-treated pigments for use in color cosmetics. The patented, chemically bonded surface treatment is based on a combination of palmitoyl proline and other amino acids. Powder products made from LP-treated pigments and substrates exhibit excellent spreadability and uniformity compared to other surface-treated materials, as well as very good skin adhesion. Substrates available with the LP treatment include talc, sericite, mica, titanium dioxide and iron oxides. Pressed powders and liquid foundations are the primary product categories that would benefit from the use of the LP series.
